⚠️ A builder that composes a guard with a filter of its own goes through this — the icon
sub-layer, the cluster patch (maplibre-layer-builders.ts); the cluster bubbles need no guard
and set their filter as it is. A filter set LATER does not come here:
MaplibreAdapter.setLayerFilter composes the caller's with the filter the sub-layer was
built with, read back from the engine, so the guard comes along with the rest of it.
